I don’t know about you, but I simply can’t remember every little thing. Every little thing said. Every thought. Every reply. I just can’t. Early on in my seeking God and what He would say about certain things, this became a problem. I would pray, sense the Lord telling me something, but by the time it was time to use that, I wasn’t absolutely clear on just what He said on some topics. Sure, I would remember some things, but not all. When it comes to hearing what God has to say and remembering it…..I consider that of upmost importance.

We all travel through seasons – where there are lessons to be learned, faith to be built, trust to be increased. Through these seasons, God refines us and refines us. He further grows us to become more Christlike. Accomplishing within us His perfect and pleasing plan for us to be able to accomplish His plan for our lives. Recognizing what season you are in is truly fascinating. Taking intentional time to examine what God has been teaching you. What He has sharpened your ears to hear. What circumstances He has you in.

Several years ago I began to journal my seasons. I take intentional time with God to ask Him questions about my day, my feelings, my responses, my needs and I wait for Him to reply. I often have other questions for Him after I sense His response. I pray and ask God for anything that am absent of. I write out my prayers, my questions, His responses. Why? So I can remember. The Bible tells us to remember what God has done. It is too easy to grow and just “be” who we are today. But if we write throughout our lives, our seasons, we can easily go back to re-witness how God has carried us through the tiny things, the small things, the large things, the unbearable things – and our hope is found in all those writings. All those times God had us. It’s so encouraging to look back and see how God moved. What He answered. What He didn’t. How He provided. How He protected. How He has carried us through it all. But all would not be easily remembered if we didn’t write it out.

I encourage you to start somewhere. Your thoughts to God. Your prayers to God. Your struggles. Your desires. Pray over it all. Ask God what He wants you to know about each thing you write. Take time and be quite to hear what His reply to you is.

God created me to love making things, it is my passion. I have made each of my journals – marking them with the season somehow written on the fronts. I have been blessed over the years to make many for others – and I have prayed over each one. You certainly don’t have to have anything special, a simple notebook works just fine. If you desire something more custom, I’d be happy to help you. Just start somewhere. Anywhere. Write it out.

Lord help us to set time aside to spend with you. Give us the words to write to you. Increase our courage to ask you the questions of our hearts. Slow us down to remain quite and listen for your reply. Teach us to write it out. Teach us to listen and obey. Help us to remember all you have done for us, may we not forget your goodness for a second. In Jesus name. Amen.

I am so gratelful you helped me on the journal journey. I am in my 2nd journal and almost ready for the 3rd. I do like to read over them and see how God has moved in my life. And he has! He has become so much more real and closer to me sense we started “chatting” each day. Thank you for bringing this inspiration in my life…
